Does not 'work' to get your house sold!

Posted by wifewithalife09 on 10/20/2009

I hired Valerie Hunter-Kelly's real estate team to sell my house a few months ago. I decided to use them because they seemed to be rather popular and had a lot of ads on the radio. At first they seemed very nice and enthusiastic about selling my house. Once I signed on the dotted line, it all changed. All they have done is taken pictures and listed it. I have not gotten any follow up calls from the seller's agent in months, and then yesterday I get a call that they want to come take new pictures. I spend a ton of time cleaning my house from top to bottom so it will look 'picture perfect' only to call later in the afternoon and find out that the photographer will not be coming! The girl I talked to said that they were 'hoping the photographer would be in today, but she couldn't make it after all.'! Since when do people make appointments that are iffy and then not let the clients know what's going on? On top of it, I've only had one call from someone wanting to view my house, and it was at an inappropriate time of night (right as I was getting my kids ready to go to bed). When I called my seller's agent, she suggested that I pack my kids in the car and take them to the park so these people could stop by. Apparently she does not have children or she would understand that it's an inconvenience to interrupt my kids' bedtime routine by taking them to the park at 8:00 at night! The buyer's agent does call and touch base every few weeks-- of course, because they want the double commission! And the first question is always 'how are the showings going?' So they don't keep track of their own listings and whether or not they are people actually interested and looking at them. I am very frustrated with this company, as I feel like they're going to get a big fat commission off of selling my house, while I am the one doing most of the work. They are making more off of my house than I am! And the clincher--? For me to break the contract, I would have to pay a $500 'de-listing fee'. Hopefully my contract will just expire and I can find a different company to use next time.
