We wanted a Sundeck extension and improvements to an existing Sundeck's support structure. A contract was signed on 11/1/07. We checked the company. The 50% down payment check of $1,400.00 written on 11/2/07 has cleared given an estimated start date of 11/15/07. Materials were delivered on 12/06/07. On 12/07/07, they discovered that they ordered incorrect materials. The correct materials were reordered. In the process of attaching the Sundeck extension, the existing railings had to be removed from the homes vinyl siding and additional siding had to be removed, modified and replaced. We had discussed the repair of resulting holes at the time of the estimate/contract signing. The reply was the siding would be finished off just like the current siding and parts replaced where needed. Holes remain in the vinyl siding and several pieces of siding are not properly attached. County Codes Dept. had to come out and approve footings prior to pouring the concrete and installing the decking. Mr. Jackson is upset with county codes because they made him make the footings deeper than in the past. County Codes also discovered that the deck extension had no flashing and pointed that out to the employee then. They installed the decking anyway. Afterwards, the carpenter went to the Codes Dept. discussed the flashing. He ended up returning and removing the decking to place the flashing. The initial deck framing was insufficient to support the load. They ended up leaving the railing crooked and shakey and weak. I filed a complaint with the BBB on 11 Jan 08 and have not heard a reply.
